Jim Hopkinson of The Hopkinson ReportHello! My name is Jim and I have a lot of titles, including blogger, podcaster, author, speaker, online marketer, gadget guy, social media maven, sports fan, and runner.

But at my core, what I really am is a teacher.

I am really good at taking a deep-dive approach to a topic, organizing it in an informative and entertaining way, and then sharing that information with others. Like you.

This teaching takes the form of speaking to groups in person, conveying my thoughts via writing, and excitedly telling stories via podcast or video.

I started this blog and podcast in April 2008 when I was a marketing director at Wired.com, the online site of WIRED Magazine.

As you probably know, WIRED is a monthly publication that is the first word on innovation, and how it affects technology, business, science, and popular culture. All things that I am passionate about.

Every week for 175 episodes, my listeners discovered “The Marketing Trends That Mattered,” as I delved into topics such as:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Entrepreneurship
  • iPads, iPhones, iPods, and Macs
  • Digital Publishing and more

I also had the pleasure of interviewing more than 60 amazing business owners… entrepreneurs driving the growth of the digital age. Because I was at a large corporation, I covered those topics from that perspective.

However, after leaving Wired in November 2011, I decided to start my own business, so I rebranded and relaunched the show. Now I focus is on career development for the new economy, showing how new media, technology and branding are changing how people look at their career and lifestyle.
